Audiology is a branch of science that deals primarily with the prevention of hearing and balance disorders, and their diagnosis and rehabilitation after they occur. The main goal of the science of audiology is to detect hearing and balance losses at the earliest stage and to ensure that the appropriate rehabilitative approach is implemented as soon as possible when necessary. Graduates of the department are given the title of Audiologist.
Graduates of the Department of Audiology are employed in Audiology Clinics of state, private or university hospitals. In order for cochlear implant surgeries to be performed in hospitals, an Audiologist is a mandatory professional staff member, along with an ENT doctor. In addition, there are job opportunities in special education and rehabilitation centers that provide services to the hearing impaired. In this field, Audiologists are mandatory professionals, along with teachers of the hearing impaired. In the private sector, they can work as responsible managers in hearing aid companies and also in cochlear implant companies that provide services to hospitals from outside. They can open their own private audiology centers. Graduates who want to pursue an academic career can continue their postgraduate education at universities in Turkey and abroad and pursue an academic career.
